Birds of a Lesser Paradise by Megan Mayhew Bergman

I recently read Birds of a Lesser Paradise for my book club and thoroughly enjoyed the short stories presented by the author.    The stories revolve around  the human-animal relationship.  Bergman’s tales  mention creatures from the animal kingdom such as the rare ivory billed woodpecker to a wolf.    In my favorite tale,  Housewifely Arts,  the main character is on a quest to find the African Grey parrot she used to own that mimics her deceased mother’s voice.  Each story is different and Bergman’s insight, as the wife of a veterinarian,   into our relationship with the natural world made this title a fascinating read.  If you’re an animal lover I would give this title a try!
