Book Review: Trust Your Eyes by Linwood Barclay

I recently finished reading Trust Your Eyes by author Linwood Barclay and was happy to add this author to my list of authors to read.  Barclay definitely updates Hitchcock’s movie Rear Window in this 21 century version of voyeurism.

Thomas Kilbride, is a schizophrenic that is obsessed with memorizing city maps via  whirl360, a site similar to Google Street View.   He believes he has been hired by the CIA to use his photographic memory to memorize the major cities of the world.    One day Thomas accidentally stumbles upon what looks like a women being strangled in one of whirl360’s views of a NYC street, and begs his brother Ray to investigate. To appease his brother’s persistent pleas Ray takes a trip to NYC  and makes a half-hearted attempt to humor his brother.  Thomas and Ray have no idea what they have gotten themselves involved with as they plunge deeper into this complex whodunit.    This novel was a quick read that had me on the edge of my seat with its many twists and turns.  If you are in the mood for a riveting thriller, give Trust Your Eyes a chance — you won’t be disappointed!  Warner Brothers has just bought the movie rights to this novel.
