Book Review: My Ideal Bookshelf Edited by Thessaly La Force

My Ideal Bookshelf book cover

I recently stumbled upon the beautiful book, My Ideal Bookshelf, a nonfiction title comprised of the books 100 cultural figures have selected as the books that make their “ideal bookshelf.”  What are the books the we choose to keep?  The ones we display for others to peruse?  The books that inspire us?  It is interesting to see what people like Patti Smith, James Franco, Junot Diaz, Michael Chabon and others  deem worthy for their shelf.  Alongside beautiful artwork of the spines of the books by artist  Jane Mount, there is a one page essay on the ponderings of each collection– some suprising but always interesting.  The books we keep say  a lot about us.  What would be the books on your ideal bookshelf?
